Who actually operates this

Every rental booked through this site is fulfilled by Legendary Car Rental, a car rental business based at 85, Jalan SS15/4C, SS15, 47500 Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. Exotic Car Rental Malaysia is a trading name we use for the part of our work that serves visitors to the country. There is no separate company behind it, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.

You will find our fleet appearing under other names too. That is normal in this industry and it is not an attempt to look bigger than we are — it is one inventory, presented for different audiences. The cars, the prices, the insurance and the people are the same in every case.

Why a site for visitors

Most car rental writing in Malaysia is written for Malaysians. It assumes you already know that tolls are electronic, that RON97 is the yellow pump, that nobody drives to Genting after ten in the morning, and that your licence is obviously acceptable. If you have just flown in from Seoul or Manchester, none of that is obvious, and the questions you actually have — do I need an International Driving Permit, what is this card in the door pocket, which side do I drive on — are the ones nobody answers.

So this site answers them first and sells you a car second. The visitor FAQ and the guides exist because we were answering the same twenty questions on WhatsApp every week.

The route guides

The other thing we do differently here is write about where to drive. A supercar parked outside a hotel is a photograph; a supercar on the Genting switchbacks at seven in the morning is a holiday. Our 7 route guides carry real distances, real drive times measured in real traffic, and honest notes about the sections that are rough, foggy or slow. Where a road is not worth it, we say so.

What we will not do

• Hand over a supercar to a driver whose licence needs a translation they do not have. It voids the insurance and it is not a risk we will let a visitor take.
• Deliver a car we know will not fit your hotel car park. We call and check the barrier first.
• Quote you a car that is wrong for your itinerary without saying so. If you have booked a two-seater and told us you are driving to Penang with three people, we will raise it.
• Invent review counts, awards or a founding story. What is on this page is what there is.

The fleet

We currently list 40 cars across 16 marques, from a Honda Civic RS to a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Every car is prepared, cleaned and photographed at our yard in Subang Jaya before it goes out. Pricing on this site comes straight from our live inventory, so if a car is here, we rent it, and when a car leaves the fleet the page goes with it.
