For a visitor
A Rolls-Royce is not really a car you rent to go driving. It is a car you rent because an occasion demands it — a wedding, an anniversary, a first night in Kuala Lumpur that has to be remembered, or a business arrival where the vehicle is part of the message. Understanding that changes how you should book it.
The Cullinan is the modern expression of the idea: a full-size luxury SUV with a 6.75-litre V12, air suspension that makes Malaysian road repairs disappear entirely, and a rear cabin that is quieter at a hundred kilometres an hour than most restaurants are. Its raised ride height is genuinely useful here, too — it clears the speed bumps and drainage lips that an old-school Rolls saloon would struggle with.
Most of our Rolls-Royce bookings from visitors are chauffeur-driven, and we would gently encourage that. It is a very large car in a city with tight basement ramps and narrow heritage streets, and the whole point of the rear seat is that you are sitting in it. A driver who knows where a Cullinan physically fits in Kuala Lumpur removes the only stressful part of the experience.
If you do want to drive it yourself, it is far easier than its size suggests — light steering, excellent cameras, rear-axle steering that shrinks it at low speed. Take the wide roads: Jalan Ampang, the Maju Expressway, Putrajaya's boulevards. Avoid Chinatown and the older lanes below Bukit Nanas entirely.
For photography, the Cullinan works best at Putrajaya's bridges in the first hour of daylight, or on the approach roads to Merdeka 118 at night. For a wedding it is the default answer in this country and has been for a long time. We will decorate to your florist's brief, arrive early, and keep it running and cool through the wait.
